چکیده
This second special issue of the Grape Remote sensing Atmospheric Profile and Evapotranspiration eXperiment (GRAPEX) further advances expands upon initial research findings first GRAPEX on measurement remote vine water use stress. is a highly collaborative interdisciplinary experiment, which involves USDA-ARS scientists, industry, university researchers. The large scope this has allowed development new tools techniques to quantify evapotranspiration, moisture status, stress, with ultimate goal improving irrigation management in California vineyards.

Remote sensing of vineyard FPAR, with implications for irrigation scheduling
Normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data, acquired at two-meter resolution by an airborne ADAR System 5500, were compared with fraction of photosynthetically active radiation (FPAR) absorbed by commercial vineyards in Napa Valley, California. An empirical line correction was used to transform image digital counts to surface reflectance. “Apparent” NDVI (generated from digital counts) ...
متن کاملFrom pixel to vine parcel: A complete methodology for vineyard delineation and characterization using remote-sensing data
8 The increasing availability of Very High Spatial Resolution images enables accurate 9 digital maps production as an aid for management in the agricultural domain. In 10 this study we develop a comprehensive and automatic tool for vineyard detection, 11 delineation and characterization using aerial images and without any parcel plan 12 availability. In France, vineyard training methods in rows...
متن کاملOrganic vineyard management in California
California grape production is a multi-billion dollar business, but only a small fraction of the productive acreage is farmed organically. One aspect of organic management is the pest control strategies, which rely heavily on biological and cultural controls, as well as approved pesticides. To determine what factors might restrict adoption of organic farming practices, we describe the current s...
متن کاملPaso Robles vineyard irrigation study provides benchmark data to assist future area groundwater management
Management Act (SGMA) in California obligates increased levels of management in highand medium-priority groundwater basins in the near future in order to achieve long-term sustainable groundwater conditions (DWR 2014). An immediate challenge for effective management in many agricultural areas reliant upon groundwater is that little or no information currently exists on the amount of water extra...
متن کاملVineyard Detection and Vine Variety Discrimination from Very High Resolution Satellite Data
In order to exploit remote sensing data operationally for precision agriculture applications, efficient and automated methods are required for the accurate detection of vegetation, crops and different crop varieties. To this end, we have designed, developed and evaluated an object-based classification framework towards the detection of vineyards, the vine canopy extraction and the vine variety ...
